The Claude Max plan: unlimited usage for power users
2025
In 2025, Anthropic introduced the Claude Max plan: $100/month for 20x the usage of the Pro plan, priority access during peak times, and early access to new features.
The pricing seemed steep at first glance. But for professional users (developers, researchers, writers, analysts) it was a bargain. A single hour of Claude-assisted coding could save days of work. A single research synthesis could replace weeks of reading.
The plan targeted users who had hit the Pro plan's limits daily. These were people for whom Claude wasn't a curiosity but a core work tool, as essential as their IDE or their email.
Power users reported using 50-100 messages per day across coding, writing, analysis, and research. At the Pro tier, they'd hit rate limits by mid-morning. Max removed that ceiling entirely.
The plan's success demonstrated something important about the AI market: for knowledge workers, the limiting factor wasn't model quality (Claude was already excellent); it was access. Give people unlimited access to a great model, and they'll find endless ways to use it productively.
By the end of Q1 2025, Max subscribers reported an average productivity increase of 30-40% in their primary work activities.
